- Jordyn Clayton, a nursing student at Louisiana Tech University, killed a Catahoula Parish trophy buck on Dec. 26.
- Thirteen-year-old Hunter Thompson of West Monroe was hunting the Russell Sage WMA on Dec. 3 when he killed a trophy buck.
- Erick Crew, a local veteran of Baton Rouge, was taken fishing for his first time by his good friend Christopher Baumann.
- Five more suspected cases of chronic wasting disease in deer have been discovered in Tensas Parish, the LADDL reported.

Hot Spots - February 2023
- Drive across the Highway 15 or Highway 2 bridges at Lake D’Arbonne on pretty much any February day and you will see people fishing.
- Dularge remains one of the bright fishing spots on Louisiana’s coast, and area guide Capt. Marty Lacoste has specific patterns in February.
- Bass should be moving all the time and start working their way up with warmer water temps and with, perhaps, more water in Toledo Bend.
- There is probably no better area than Coffee Ground Cove on Sabine Lake to fish for trophy speckled trout in February.
- Travis Meche Sr., who lives in nearby Branch, will be targeting pre-spawn and spawning bass in February at Miller’s Lake near Ville Plate.
