The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) reminds waterfowl hunters who received a permit for the experimental black-bellied whistling duck (BBWD) season in October to complete the required report on harvest and effort on the LDWF website’s BBWD reporting page whether they hunted or not by Nov. 8.
Hunters must compete the report to be eligible for the permit in 2027 even if they did not hunt after receiving the permit.
“Only about 50% of hunters submitted the BBWD report by the deadline,’’ LDWF Secretary Tyler Bosworth said. “We need all those who have not submitted their report to do so now. This was an experimental season and data collection and reporting are critical requirements of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the continuation of this opportunity long term. I again want to thank all of our hunters for their interest and participation in this great season.”
Reporting must be done at the black-bellied whistling duck reporting page or by visiting Louisiana Outdoors at the LDWF website.
