Episode offers tips for fishing under birds, locating flats with feeding specks
Trout fishing is a lot like real estate: It’s all about location, location, location. Being in the right place — at the right time — can help you cash in on hungry schools of trout and fill a box.
Luckily, Sportsman TV hooked up with Capt. Travis Miller, who brought host Greg Hackney to some prime speck spots around Dularge.
In his third appearance on the show, Miller started the morning by targeting trout schooled up under a flock of birds feeding on shrimp. In the episode, Miller breaks down what to expect when fishing birds and exactly how to target that scenario.
After reeling in a mix of throwbacks and keepers, he took Hackney to another area to target larger trout.
That flat in about 2 feet of water produced some nice fish — a cold front had pushed through days before, and the trout were using the area to warm up in mid-morning hours.
Miller details how to find similar flats and when to fish them. He also shows viewers what tackle to use to fish the conditions on any given day — a great, info-packed episode for trout fishermen.
