The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) would like to remind dove hunters that opening day shooting hours on LDWF private dove field leases and Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are the same as outside, one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. Dove season opens Saturday, Sept. 2.
Only non-toxic shot size 6 or smaller is allowed on these fields.
In addition to a hunting license, all migratory gamebird hunters are required to be HIP certified, which is available for free on the LDWF website at https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/
