Rad Trascher, Ride the Bull Tournament Director, posted the following message on the Ride the Bull Facebook page.

“After an incredible amount of conversations with the tournament committee, sponsors, Bridgeside Marina and some participants, we have unfortunately decided to cancel Ride the Bull for this year. Throughout these discussions, safety and the ability to deliver the true experience of Ride the Bull was the main focus. Collectively, we do not believe we can offer the same outstanding tournament and festive atmosphere that anglers have come to expect from the world’s largest kayak tournament, Ride the Bull, while keeping everyone safe.

We are working with Wilderness Systems, The Backpacker, Academy Sports + Outdoors and other sponsors that have been integral to Ride the Bull’s success to not only make next year’s event better than ever, but also to offer something fun to do this year on Ride the Bull 11’s original date. So stay tuned… (hint, Wilderness Systems has some really cool new products that they want to introduce to the group)

For those of you that have already registered, I will contact you directly by a separate email. I would also like to thank our long-standing sponsors that have stood with us through this difficult time as well as the new sponsors that have come on board this year. The hope is that all of you will join us in 2021.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly. Ride the Bull has become a staple in the kayaking community, a fixture in the Grand Isle tournament season and an event that is enjoyed by people from all over the world. I still encourage you to go visit my favorite barrier island, Grand Isle, and enjoy all things that it has to offer.

Please stay safe and stay tuned for more details.”
