Best best for Dularge redfish

Capt. Travis Miller is a huge fan of trout fishing during May, but he still has to cater to his customers who want redfish.

And Miller employs multiple techniques to catch loads of redfish this month.

When the water is up, he focuses his efforts in the ponds.

“In May, you are starting to get some grass in the ponds,” Miller said. “I really like focusing on them because they take the wind really well and they will be clean most of the time.”

Once in those ponds, Miller throws spinnerbaits teamed with purple haze-colored Vortex Shads on ¼-ounce GoldenEye jigheads.

“Hit those cuts that feed into any major body of water, and work them over for five minutes and then run,” Miller advised.

When the guide has inexperienced clientele in his boat, he opts for popping corks and dead shrimp.

“If I’m sitting on a point, I will fish bait shrimp,” Miller said.
