Sept. 8 — 4th annual Rio Grande Fly Fishing Tournament

New Orleans City Park. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No entry fee, but must be a member of a Louisiana fly fishing club. Pre-registration required. Prizes for three heaviest Rio Grande cichlids weighed in (one per angler). Sponsored by New Orleans Fly Fishers. Details at www.warmfly.com.

Sept. 8 — The Camp Fly Fishing School. Advanced Workshop.

Breaux Bridge. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Workshop taught by FFF master certified Instructors and covers a wide range of casts, as well as preparation for instructor certification. Sept. 22 — Louisiana’s National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Venues at Baton Rouge, Minden, Monroe, Woodworth. Free admission. Exhibitors, demos, cooking and activities for the entire family. Baton Rouge and Minden venues will have hands-on fly casting and fly tying. Presented by Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries and various conservation organizations and agencies. Oct. 5-6 — 32nd annual Federation of Fly Fishers Southern Conclave, Baxter County Fairgrounds, Mt. Home, Ark.

The South’s largest fly-fishing-only show features programs, workshops, fly-tying and casting demos, vendor exhibits, youth activities, fishing and much more. Details at www.southerncouncilfff.org.
