Bank-fishing checklist:

Bank fishing is like anything else: You can make it simple or you can make it complicated.

Here’s a commonsense list of things you’ll want to consider taking on a simple family bank-fishing outing:

• Rods or poles of your choice

• Simple tackle box with extra hooks, line, small sinkers and corks

• A pocket knife or clippers

• A cricket box and a box of red worms

• Chairs for everyone

• A small ice chest with plenty of cold beverages

• Snacks/treats

• Suntan lotion

• Bug spray

• A towel or disposable hand wipes

• A small garbage bag for trash

• A game, toys, books or activity to keep the kids happy if the fish don’t bite

• Your cell phone (pictures of the trip will be great memories).
