Xpress Boats, Bassmaster Elite Angler Caleb Sumrall is attending the Louisiana Sportsman Show in Gonzales, La., on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. He will be offering fishing tips and techniques and also talking about why he chose to run an Xpress X21 Pro.
Caleb grew up fishing in southern Louisiana with his dad and grandfather. His interest was diverted to golf during high school, working a job and eventually starting a family with his wife, Jaci. At 25, he started fishing local tournaments and then B.A.S.S. Nation events. That decision put him on a path of opportunity that many can only dream of. Caleb qualified for the 2017 B.A.S.S. Nation Championship on South Carolina’s Lake Hartwell and won the event, which was a life-changing moment in his career, as it qualified him to fish the Elite Series the next season. In 2018, Sumrall finished in the money nine times — four times on the Elite Series (including a 13th place at Lake Oahe), four in the Bassmaster Opens (including ninth at the Championship on Table Rock) and his Classic debut. Caleb specializes in shallow water bass fishing but understands that that technique won’t sustain him throughout an entire Elite season. Caleb joined the Xpress Boats Elite team in the fall of 2019 and is excited for the new opportunities running the “Original” all-welded aluminum will offer him.
The number one reason Caleb chose to make jump from glass to the original high performance aluminum was the ability for his X21Pro to float shallower than any other boat he has fished from. This key component is the result of the use of high grade 5052 aluminum alloy, all-welded construction, revolutionary Hyper-Lift Hull design and unibody injected foam construction, giving the boat more buoyancy and a lighter overall weight compared to the competitors same size model.
Regarding joining the Xpress Boats Elite Anglers team, Caleb said “Great boat and great people. It was an easy decision.”
Other features he really values on his X21Pro
- Rough water performance is awesome! I ran at 60 mph across a lake on St. John with 10 mph cross wind without being jarred.
- The X21Pro handles great, especially on turns.
- Amazing front deck space for two adults. I recently had my two kids on the front casting with me and we all had space to fish.
- Ample storage for all my gear including rods, tackle and other necessary equipment.
- Lastly, I love the Infinity stereo system with 4 speakers.
Caleb chose to work with Boats Unlimited in Baton Rouge who has been an authorized dealer of Xpress Boats for over 00 years. In terms of working with them Caleb said “It’s a first class dealership. Working with Boats Unlimited was quick, easy, and everyone there was super friendly.”
Caleb is thrilled to be running one of the finest performing, toughest, cost-effective aluminum boats on the Elite Series. He confidently placed his trust in the 54 years of experience Xpress Boats offers in building the original all-welded, all-aluminum boat.
