Throwing cut shad to load the boat in Venice

Saltwater and freshwater fish were on the menu when Jeff Bruhl and I left our houses early and headed south to the willow, cattail and roseau-lined marshes of southern Plaquemines Parish.

Bruhl brought along some shad he had caught in a cast net in the spring. They were frozen solid, but as soon as they thawed, we put them on our hooks and caught some MONSTER catfish. The day also resulted in tons of bass and redfish.
