Jigging summer specks in Cocodrie

Cocodrie is an excellent summer pattern fishing hotspot for speckled trout.

In this trip I ran out first thing in the morning to fish the rigs and islands located not far from Coco Marina.

The tide really could have been moving better, and that was definitely the challenge to overcome.

And there were other challenges!

Lots of dink trout. I mean TONS of throwbacks. It was that kind of day where you would catch 10 just to finally land one that was over 12 inches.

And, to make matters worse, there were sharks on the prowl eating fish as I reeled them in to the boat.

But this is part of what makes Cocodrie such an amazing fishing destination.

I will certainly be back to fish Cocodrie again, because I really want to figure the area out and reap the reward of incredible speckled trout fishing.
