Most days, you’ll find Korey Anderson behind the counter at a popular tackle shop called Chag’s Sporting Goods, located in suburban New Orleans. He advises area anglers on which lures are hot, how to team a reel with the right rod and what pound-test line is suitable for which fish.
All that talking about fishing gives Anderson a constant, unquenchable desire to get out and do it himself, and on his off days, that’s frequently accomplished at the incomparable Paloma Lake, located in the heart of South Louisiana’s marsh near the tiny Plaquemines Parish town of Braithwaite.
Anderson has had two extended stays at Paloma, and in that time, he’s gotten to know the lake well. He has been blown away by the quality of the fishing there, and let me tag along on a trip Monday, July 10.
