The Boat Show in New Orleans kicks off today!

The floor of the Superdome will be filled with boats and all the necessary accessories beginning Feb. 2 at 3 p.m., when The Boat Show in New Orleans kicks off. The show will continue through Saturday.

Body of missing Bogue Chitto boater found

The body of a Baton Rouge man missing since Dec. 28 while on a camping trip on the Bogue Chitto River with his wife was found today (Jan. 28), the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said.

The body of 63-year-old William Holloway was found about 8 a.m. about 1 1/2 miles downriver from where his capsized boat was found, the LDWF said.[…]

Franklin Parish man cited for illegally killing trophy deer, entering big-buck contests

A Winnsboro man was cited Thursday (Jan. 19) for allegedly killing a 15-point deer with an illegal weapon and entering it into several North Louisiana big-buck contests, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported today.

LDWF agents cited Billy W. Jordan, 54, of Winnsboro for taking a deer with an illegal weapon and four felony counts of contest fraud, the agency reported.[…]

West Monroe man sentenced in federal court for killing bald eagle

A West Monroe man was lost his hunting privileges, received a fine, and was sentenced to unsupervised probation Jan. 3 for killing a bald eagle in the spring of 2011, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.

Jeffrey M. Miles, 23, was fined $2,525, lost his hunting privileges for three years and must serve three years of unsupervised probation in connection with the April 4 killing of the mature bald eagle in Franklin Parish, the LDWF said.[…]
