When you think of Plaquemines Parish, your mind goes to one thing: world-class saltwater fishing. Redfish, trout, and yellowfin tuna have put this place on the map for decades. But while thousands of anglers blast past the river banks to reach the Gulf, they are driving right over the top of the best-kept secret in North American fishing. The proof surfaced in September 2025. At a major tournament just upriver in Norco, the results weren’t just good—they were historic. We aren’t talking about ‘eating size’ fish; we are talking about behemoth fish that have lived undisturbed for years because nobody was looking for them.
In today’s video, I’m setting out to see just how big these catfish get in Plaquemines Parish. And I want to show exactly what is possible for trophy catfishing in this special part of South Louisiana.
