Subject arrested for turkey hunting and trespassing violations in Catahoula Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents arrested a Jonesville man for alleged turkey hunting and trespassing violations in Catahoula Parish on March 21.

Agents arrested Jeffrey K. Hudnall, 58, for taking turkeys during a closed season, intentional concealment of wildlife, failing to tag harvested turkeys, criminal trespassing, and taking over the daily and seasonal limit of turkeys.

On March 21, agents apprehended Hudnall for trespassing on private property while actively hunting turkeys during a closed season. The season for turkeys did not begin until April 5.

Agents also found three freshly harvested adult male turkeys hidden where the agents found Hudnall actively hunting turkeys. The legal season bag limit for turkeys is two adult male turkeys per licensed hunter. The daily bag limit for turkeys is one adult male turkey per licensed hunter.

Agents took Hudnall to the Catahoula Parish Jail.

Taking turkeys during a closed season and intentional concealment of wildlife brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail for each offense. Taking over the seasonal and daily bag limit of turkeys carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail for each offense. Failing to tag harvested turkeys carries up to a $350 fine.

Criminal trespassing brings a $100 to $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail.
