Daily season set to close this Sunday, July 8, at 11:59 a.m.
The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission on Tuesday voted to move to a weekends-only recreational red snapper season, starting on Friday, July 13.
According to a news release, the decision was made after catch statistics indicated about 300,000 pounds, or 40 percent of Louisiana’s allocation, had been harvested through June 24.
The seven-days-a-weeks season will end at 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, July 8.
On July 13, recreational anglers will be able to fish on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, until the state’s private recreational allocation of 743,000 pounds is reached.
Size and bag limits will remain at 16 inches and two fish per person, per day.
