Marsh Man Masson vid: Catching speckled trout with a grizzly bear

Fish show up en masse at popular Louisiana port

In recent weeks, speckled trout have been moving into inside waters across much of the Louisiana coast, with one glaring exception — southern Terrebonne Parish. Anglers out of Dularge and Cocodrie have been biding their time catching redfish until their biceps ache, but many have been hitting the autumn trout grounds hoping to be the first to discover the run has begun.

Well, the run has indeed begun.

Capt. Lloyd Landry took me out a few days ago, fully expecting to catch a bunch of undersized trout and some keeper reds. Overnight, though, the trout arrived, and the action was spectacular. For me, the specks hit shrimp creole-colored Matrix Shads teamed with 1/16-ounce Deathgrip Jigheads fished under Versamaxx corks.
