Four subjects cited in Plaquemines Parish for migratory game bird violations

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited four subjects for alleged migratory game bird violations in Plaquemines Parish on Sept. 15.

Agents cited Logan Giroir, 20, and Landon Giroir, 23, both of Jackson, Grant Murray, 21, of Crosby Miss., and Mason Mayeux, 21, of Geismar, for transporting completely dressed migratory game birds.

Agents were on patrol in the Venice area on Sept. 15 when they observed several subjects returning from hunting migratory game birds. Agents made contact with the four subjects and found them in possession of 26 migratory game bird breasts with no tags or identifiers present.

Agents seized the 26 individual migratory game bird breasts and donated them to a local charity.

It is illegal to transport fully dressed migratory game birds without leaving the head or one fully feathered wing attached to the bird.

Transporting completely dressed migratory game birds brings a $400 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. The subjects may also face civil restitution totaling $319 for the replacement value of the migratory game birds.

Agents participating in this case are Agent Joshua Schilling and Sgt. Villere Reggio.
