If you’ve been brushing up your calling skills in anticipation of duck season this fall, you can see how you measure up this weekend at the Louisiana Outdoor Expo in the Cajundome in Lafayette.
The 2018 World Waterfowl Calling Championships facilitated by Team Real Duck will begin tonight with the junior division competition for callers 17 years old and younger in the mallard meat and specklebelly divisions. Adults duck hunters will have their shot on Saturday in individual and team competitions, and on Sunday things shifts to goose calling.
You must purchase an expo ticket to participate in the calling contest. Registration begins Friday evening for juniors at 6 p.m., with the contest starting at 7 p.m. The entry fee to call for juniors is $25 per contest.
For adults in the open and team divisions, it’s $50 per contestant per contest, and in the hunter class competition it’s $25 per contestant per contest. Registration begins at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
