White Lake rice field and marsh lottery hunt applications being accepted

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is now accepting applications for the 2008 waterfowl marsh and rice field lottery hunts on the White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area.

Applications for both hunts are due in room 461 at LDWF’s headquarters, 2000 Quail Drive, located in Baton Rouge by 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 9. The mailing address for either hunt should read:

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must submit a separate application for each desired hunting date. No more than five applications per person can be submitted for the rice field hunts and only two for the marsh hunts.

The available dates for rice field hunts are: Nov. 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 29, and 30; Dec. 13, 14, 17, 20 and 21; Jan. 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 17 and 18. Marsh hunts are available on Nov. 11, 13 and 26; Dec. 27, 28 and 30; and Jan. 6 and 13.

Application forms and a complete list of rules are available at LDWF Headquarters in Baton Rouge or on the LDWF Web site at http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/.

Each application will be assessed a non-refundable $5 administrative fee. Applications must be accompanied by a check or money order payable to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Successful applicants will be notified by mail.

Selected applicants will be allowed two guests for the rice field hunts and one guest for the marsh hunts. An additional payment of $150 will be required for the rice field hunts and $300 for the marsh hunts. The payment is to be made by check or money order and sent to Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, 710 West Prien Lake Road, Suite 202A, Lake Charles, LA 70601 by the date in the notification letter.
