Veteran Stuttgart waterfowler offers late-season timber tips

Randy Lee has spent countless hours over the past several decades convincing mallards to drop into shotgun range of hunters. Much of that time was during a career as a guide, and now he takes out friends and family to his property on the famed Section 16 near Stuttgart, Ark.

So he’s learned a few things about working educated late-season birds, and he shared his thoughts with during a recent hunt with Ducks Unlimited’s Jerry Holden Jr. and LouisianaSportsman.com staff.

“Late in the season in this timber, the ducks will get decoy shy, they’ll get hole shy and, especially, they will start flaring off of these spinning ducks …,” Lee said.
