3 tips for dove-hunting success

1. It’s always good to wear camouflage when hunting, but just being still and not moving when dove are flying works just as well.

2. Doves are not like waterfowl, which often take a pounding to bring down. A good dose of No. 8 shot is sufficient. With all of the new choke tubes available, it’s important to pattern your shotgun to see which cylinder delivers the most shot in a 30-inch circle at 40 yards.

3. Perhaps no other bird requires more focus on basic shotgunning skills than dove. Keep your cheek on the stock and following through are important with these birds.
