The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will host four trapper education workshops beginning Saturday (Dec. 7) at the Waddill Outdoor Education Center at 4142 North Flannery Road in Baton Rouge. The classes are free and open to the public.
Saturday’s class at Waddill will begin at 8:30 a.m. with meet and greet and last until 3 p.m. Lunch will be served. The other workshops will be held at the following locations:
- Jan. 18, 2020, Vermilionville Historic Village in Lafayette
- Feb. 1, 2020, LDWF’s Woodworth Education Center near Alexandria
- Feb. 15, 2020, LDWF Monroe Field Office
The workshops will consist of trapping demonstrations, review of laws and regulations regarding trapping, information on the sustainability model for trapping, skinning demonstrations, and hands-on instruction.
Because a portion of each workshop will be held outside, participants are asked to wear weather appropriate clothes and comfortable shoes or rubber knee boots as some walking on potentially muddy or uneven ground will be required.
