Tensas Nation Wildlife Refuge is home to a number of Louisiana black bears, and hunters should be aware that they are still protected from hunting.

A pamphlet titled “Hunting With Bears” is included with refuge permits, and hunters are encouraged to educate themselves about what they should do when dealing with bears.
