Hunter rescued after fall from stand

Wildlife agents rescued a hunter in Pointe Coupee Parish Monday (Nov. 23) after an apparent tumble from a deer stand, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.

Morganza’s Wade Allemand, 48, reportedly could not move his legs after falling from the stand, which he had accessed by boat because of high water. Allemand was on a small area of dry land near the Mississippi River when the accident occurred.

Sgt. Brad Garon and Senior Agents Thomas Ashley and Channing Duvall transported Acadian Ambulance personnel and Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Adams to the scene by boat, and then moved Allemond to a location where he could be air lifted to the hospital.

Allemand’s condition is unknown yesterday, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.
