Incident occurred earlier this week on Sandy Hollow WMA in Tangipahoa Parish
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested two Roseland residents on April 17 for alleged drug charges on the Sandy Hollow Wildlife Management Area.
Willie I. Rhodus Jr., 42, and Sheila R. Hutchins, 46, were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal narcotics and violating WMA regulations, according to a news release.
Rhodus also was cited for driving a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and with a cancelled license plate. Additionally, Hutchins had six outstanding warrants for writing bad checks, the release states.
Agents on patrol allegedly found the pair in a restricted area on the WMA. Both were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, according to the release.
Possession of methamphetamine carries up to a $5,000 fine and five years in jail. Possession of drug paraphernalia brings up to a $500 fine and six months in jail. Possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs carries up to a $10,000 fine and five to 10 years of prison, and violating WMA regulations brings a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail, the release states.
