Sportsmen look forward to September sales tax holiday

Follow this angling advice to put untapped fish in the boat this month.

The Annual Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Holiday occurs each year on the first consecutive Friday through Sunday of September. Each year during this weekend, state and local sales and use taxes do not apply to consumer purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies.

According to this act, these purchases may not be for business purposes and may not include the purchase of animals for the use of hunting.

Firearms mean a shotgun, rifle, pistol, revolver or other handgun, and hunting supplies during this sales tax holiday mean the purchase of any tangible personal property for the use of hunting, including but not limited to archery, off-road vehicles and vessels such as airboats and pirogues, accessories, animal feed, apparel, shoes, bags, float tubes, binoculars, tools, firearm and archery cases, firearm and archery accessories, range finders, knives, decoys, treestands, blinds, chairs, optics, hearing protection and enhancements, holsters, belts, slings and miscellaneous gear.

This is a great opportunity to save a little money when buying those items you planned on getting before the start of hunting season.
