Drost, who initiated discussion on potential speckled trout creel limit reductions in Southwestern Louisiana, did not attend Thursday’s Commission meeting
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commissioner Will Drost, who earlier this week initiated a discussion of possibly reducing the creel limit for speckled trout in Southwestern Louisiana, has resigned from the Commission.
Bo Boehringer, spokesman for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, confirmed the resignation through Secretary Robert Barham’s office.
“I was not given a reason,” Boehringer said.
Drost, who did not attend Thursday’s Commission meeting in Baton Rouge, could not be reached for comment.
Drost, from Lake Charles, was an at-large appointee on the Commission who originally started serving in 2012, and his current six-year term was scheduled to expire in April of 2019.
Gov. Bobby Jindal will now have to make an appointment to fill Drost’s seat, Boehringer said.
