Louisiana Sportsman Show to be held March 1-3, 2024

Exciting lineup highlights event March 1-3 at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge

The next best thing to going hunting and fishing is checking out all the latest gear and gadgets while talking with the experts who know most about them. There’s no better place than the 44th annual 2024 Louisiana Sportsman Show at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge. The Louisiana Sportsman Show has run in the state for 44 years and this year, you can do it in a climate-controlled atmosphere the whole family can enjoy.

“This year our show is in a new location,” said Lisa Cuccia, publisher of the Louisiana Sportsman magazine. “The Louisiana Sportsman Show has been held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center for years, but the facility would not renew our lease to continue there. They gave no explanation. We are very excited to hold our show this year in Baton Rouge at the Raising Cane’s River Center. We have a great show planned for you. I hope to see you there,” said Cuccia.

The Louisiana Sportsman Show is not affiliated with any other outdoor show in the state.

There will be lots of special events and treats at this year’s show. Show times are Friday, Noon – 7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The show is once again presented by corporate sponsor, Shell. There will be a huge array of fishing and hunting gear, boats, tractors, golf carts, ATVs, and much more.

BRECO Federal Credit Union will be available at the show for on-site financing of boats, tractors, ATVs, and lawn equipment.

You can renew your Louisiana Sportsman magazine subscription at the show for 25% off. And here’s just a sampling of what you can see in addition to outdoor vendors and displays from all around Louisiana and neighboring states.

The Hawg Trough, America’s No. 1 Pro fishing attraction, will be at the show with its 4,000-gallon tank full of fish. We will have fishing demonstrations scheduled throughout the show.

And it won’t be just for fishing instruction. Legendary Cajun duck call maker and hunter Dale Bordelon will have a booth at the show this year and will give duck calling demonstrations at the tank. He’ll also be displaying his handmade cypress dugout canoe, handmade cypress duck decoys and handmade cane calls — showing that keeping it old school is cool. Bordelon has also written a series of “old school” articles in recent months in Louisiana Sportsman magazine.

The annual Big Buck Contest, sponsored by Louisiana Land Bank, is also back. This year the categories are Best Louisiana Gun, Best Louisiana Bow, Best Out-of-State Gun, Best Out-of-State Bow, Best Muzzleloader/Black Powder and Best Youth. All bucks will be officially scored. Please note that if you plan on bringing your mounted deer, the deadline for entries is Saturday at 3 p.m. You can also drop your mount off before the show between Tuesday at noon – Friday at noon at the Raising Cane’s River Center. Please call 866-238-5639 and let us know you are coming. All entrants can also send in a high-quality photo with their buck for a chance to be on the cover of the Louisiana Sportsman magazine in the fall of 2024.

The Wetlands Watchers will be back again this year after a highly successful debut last year. The Wetland Watchers bring an opportunity to touch and learn about animals native to Louisiana. The students invite young and old alike to hold baby alligators and learn more about preserving the fragile Louisiana ecosystem. They will be at the show on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

There will be a 24-foot, 4-person, Rock Wall for the kids to climb.

And here’s a cool bonus: The Baton Rouge Zydeco Ice Hockey Team will kick off their spring season Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. immediately following our show. Everyone who comes to the Louisiana Sportsman Show will get $3 off a ticket to the hockey games that weekend. Zydeco Hockey players and Roux their mascot will also be at the show to play floor hockey with kids on Saturday. The team plays in the Arena of the River Center next to the Exhibition Hall. Come check out our show and stay for the game.

We have partnered with several hotels within walking distance to the River Center that have given us great rates for the weekend, including free parking. There is a direct link on our website. There are also many great restaurants in the area within easy walking distance. Make plans to come join us at the one and only Louisiana Sportsman Show, where you know you can count on us to put on the best show possible.
