Broussard appointed to Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission

Pecan Island’s Billy Broussard joined the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission yesterday (Dec. 2) during the board’s monthly meeting. Broussard replaced Earl King, who resigned because of health reasons.

Brousard, who owns and operates Pecan Island Redfish Charters, represents the commercial fishing and fur industry, as required by statute.

According to statute, the commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the governor, subject to senate confirmation. Members include three residents of the coastal parishes of the state who are representatives of the commercial fishing and fur industries and four members from the state at large.
