Bogalusa church to host Sportsman’s Paradise Expo

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Bogalusa will be holding their Sportsman’s Paradise Expo and wild-game cooking competition on Saturday, May 8.

the event will begin at 3 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m, Pastor Edmund Long told LouisianaSportsman.com.

“From 3 p.m to 5 p.m., the exhibitors and vendors will be available to show their skills and products,” Long said. “The archery competition and archery instruction for kids will be ongoing during that time, too.”

The wild game cook-off judging will begin at 5 pm. Visitors who have purchased tickets will be able to go into the cook-off area at all times and sample the dishes the teams will be preparing.

“We will have a barbecue meal that begins at 6 p.m., and Steve Chapman, our feature speaker, will begin his worship program at 7 p.m.,” Long added. “We will give away all the major prizes, like a rod-and-reel combination and guided fishing trips, at the end of his presentation.”

Chapman is an outdoorsman, author and musician from Nashville, Tennessee who has authored “A Look at Life From a Deer Stand,” “A Hunter Sets his Sights,” “A Good Husband’s Guide to Balancing Hobbies” and “Marriage” among others.

He offers a unique presentation geared toward men using stories, music and video that come from his real-life adventures that are sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, but are always filled with life-changing insight.
