46th Annual Louisiana Sportsman Show set for March 20–22 in LaPlace

Veterans, military and first responders get in free Friday; interactive fishing seminars and $1,000 tagged fish highlight this year’s event

The 46th annual Louisiana Sportsman Show, presented by Shell, returns to LaPlace March 20-22 bringing three days of outdoor excitement, hands-on learning and family-friendly fun to the River Parishes.

Held at the St. John the Baptist Parish Community Center and the adjacent Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park, this year’s show features indoor and outdoor exhibitor areas, a kids’ activity zone with inflatables, delicious food trucks and free parking.

One-of-a-kind Interactive Fishing Seminars

One of the biggest attractions this year is an expanded lineup of interactive fishing seminars that will take place inside the show grounds in a large bass tank. These aren’t sit-and-listen presentations — attendees are encouraged to ask questions, talk tactics and learn what’s working right now on Louisiana waters.

Featured speakers include:

  • Capt. C.T. Williams
  • Capt. Mike Gallo
  • Capt. Britt Ordes
  • Capt. Kris Robert
  • Capt. Danny Hunter
  • Capt. Chris Danos
  • Capt. Chris Schieble

Additional top guides and industry experts will also share their knowledge throughout the weekend.

Catch a Tagged Fish — Win $1,000

On Saturday and Sunday, attendees can try their luck in the show’s stocked pond. Reel in the right tagged fish and you could win $1,000, along with other prizes.

  • Free entry with paid admission
  • Bring your own pole or shop for the perfect setup from one of the many fishing gear vendors on site

The popular free kids’ fishing tournament also returns, giving young anglers a chance to compete and enjoy a hands-on fishing experience.

Youth fishing tournament: Compete for legendary Status

Boys and girls ages 12 and under will be competing for legendary status in the youth fishing tournament on Saturday, as the winner’s name will be added to The Sportsman Cup perpetual trophy to be displayed year-round. One lucky angler will be crowned 2026 champion, and the top 10 finishers will all receive awards.

This is a youth tournament like no other — a chance for your child to be part of Louisiana angling history.

Show attendees are also invited to bring their own dogs, as professional trainers will be available to answer questions and offer helpful tips.

On Sunday, the Wetland Watchers will offer a unique educational experience where kids — and adults — can view and touch baby alligators, snakes and other reptiles while learning about Louisiana’s wetlands and wildlife.

Special Guests and Exhibits

Fishing legend Jimmy Houston will be on hand throughout the three-day event to meet fans and talk fishing.

Exhibits will feature the latest in fishing and hunting gear, boats, ATVs, tractors, golf carts, power equipment and more, making this a must-attend event for outdoor enthusiasts across the region.

Free Admission for Heroes on Friday

Active-duty military, veterans, police officers, EMS personnel and firefighters receive free admission Friday, March 20, as a thank-you for their service.

The Louisiana Sportsman Show is not affiliated with any other outdoor show in the state. LaPlace, conveniently located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge on Highway 51, offers easy access from multiple directions and ample free parking.
