Despino’s Tire Fishin’ for Kids Bass Tournament officials proudly announced at the end of 2025 that big news was coming for the ultra-popular annual bass tournament that benefits the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in central and north Louisiana.

What has grown into the premier bass tournament every year for more than a decade at Toledo Bend has a new boat, motor and trailer on board to award the winning team in this year’s event scheduled for March 14 out of Cypress Bend Resort on the Louisiana side southwest of Many. This year’s winners will receive a new Phoenix bass boat with a retail price of $62,750 thanks to H&W Marine Power Sports in Shreveport. And, according to Randy Despino, owner of the regional tire service and founder of Fishin’for Kids, there will be a 100 percent payout again in 2026.

“Our sponsors are the heartbeat of this tournament, and we can’t thank you all enough,” Despino said, noting the fundraiser provides life-saving equipment and pediatric therapy. “Huge shout-out to H&W Marine for taking our tournament to another level by donating a 2026 Phoenix 819 ZXL bass boat for our first-place winner.”

Helping kids

Since 2019, the tournament has raised more than $550,000 and impacted the lives of more than 100,000 boys and girls and their families.

“The most beautiful part of this tournament isn’t the fish or the prizes – it’s the way people come together to lift up Children’s Miracle Network Kids and their families,” said Despino’s Tire spokesman Kevin Smith. “That unity is what truly changes lives.”

Two hundred and seventy-three boats entered the tournament in 2025. It was won by Jordan Hollingsworth and Derek Cooper with a five-bass limit weighing 27.07 pounds worth $20,000. The Top 5 teams won $5,000; $3,500; $3,000, and $2,500.

The entry fee per boat for this year’s tournament is $260. For more information go to www.despinotire.com.
