Waters in Livingston Parish shut down to all boat traffic due to ‘higher than normal tide levels,’ southeast wind

All waterways south of Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish will close at midnight tonight (May 20) by parish officials, according to news agencies.

The action was taken by emergency declaration, and covers such popular rivers as the Tickfaw, the Blood and the Amite Rivers.

Officials cited “rising waters from higher than normal tide levels and a strong southeast wind” as the reason for the closure, The (Baton Rouge) Advocate reported.

Waterways are expected to open Monday morning, wafb.com reported.
