Recreational gray triggerfish season to open March 1

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries would like to remind anglers that the recreational season for the harvest of gray triggerfish opens on March 1, 2021. The season will remain open through May 31, then close for a two-month seasonal closure from June 1 through July 31, and reopen on August 1. Anglers are allowed to keep one gray triggerfish at a minimum size of 15 inches fork length. The annual quota for recreationally harvested gray triggerfish in the Gulf of Mexico is 241,200 pounds, and the season may close early if this quota is reached or projected to be reached.
