Sportsman TV crew targets red snapper, lemonfish and mangroves out of Venice
The tagged redfish and biggest speckled trout may get the lion’s share of attention in CCA Louisiana’s annual STAR Tournament, but the offshore divisions are also a great way to hook up with some big-time prizes.
To investigate those options, Sportsman TV host Greg Hackney and producer Jared Serigné teamed up with STAR director Rad Trascher and ventured offshore from Venice with Voodoo Charters to catch red snapper, lemonfish, mangrove snapper and more.
Action was steady at every rig, making the STAR’s four offshore divisions — cobia, mangrove snapper, dorado and red snapper — a great option to potentially hit the leaderboard. The heaviest fish in each of these categories wins a $5,000 offshore tackle package.
The tournament, which runs through 5 p.m. on Sept. 7, features more than $500,000 in prizes, including a pickup truck for the first tagged redfish, NauticStar boats and more.
