Fishing near Dularge was hot over the weekend

Marty LaCoste of Absolute Fishing Charters said fishing in the Dularge area remained hot over the weekend, despite the wind and rain that defined last week’s fishing continuing.

Those willing to fight the weather caught fish.

“(We’re) battling the wind and the rains, but we are still catching,” said LaCoste, who said fishing for speckled trout has been especially good. Locating feeding birds and shrimp has been a key.

“Green Hornet Matrix tight-lined and shrimp creole Matrix Shad under Four Horsemen Tackle corks have been catching specks,” he said. “Once the bird bite is over, we have been focusing on oyster reefs and points with moving water.”

After the trout bite stops, LaCoste has been catching redfish in the shallows.

“Matrix lures, gold spoons and fresh bait shrimp under corks has been the ticket on putting reds in the boat,” he said.
