Sportsman field reporter Tommy Vidrine slammed some very large speckled trout on the front and back side of Grand Isle and Fourchon barges on December 16.
During the last few weeks, he has discovered speckled trout feeding in areas normally productive in the spring — not winter. But Vidrine isn’t complaining. In fact, he’s consistently catching 2 to 4 pound specks on artificial swim baits. Something he rarely does at other times of the year.
This highly unusual bite should last at least for the rest of the week, says Vidrine.
He caught this limit using a two different-colored swimming shads: salt and pepper and green back made by Overcast LureCo (see lure at the end).
