Investigators don’t yet know why boat capsized Tuesday near Highway 11 bridge, LDWF says
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries recovered the body of a missing New Orleans angler in Lake Pontchartrain this morning around 7 a.m.
According to a press release, Lawrence Guimont, 57, was found near where his capsized vessel was located on Tuesday under the Highway 11 bridge in Orleans Parish.
Search and rescue crews were able to link Guimont to the vessel after locating his truck at a nearby launch and confirming with his family members that he had gone out fishing, the release states.
Guimont’s body was found without a personal flotation device on, and it’s unknown at this time what caused his 12-foot boat to capsize, according to the release. His body was turned over to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
