One dead, two injured in collission between fishing boat and crew boat, LDWF says
One man died and two were injured — one seriously — in a collision yesterday between a 24-foot bay boat and a 28-foot crew boat in Plaquemines Parish near the mouth of the Mississippi River, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said today. Thirty-three-year-old Steven “Brad” Malcom of Madisonville was operating the bay boat and died shortly after the accident, which happened about 2:30 p.m. in Flat Boat Pass south of Venice, the LDWF said.
Malcolm died before reaching the hospital, the agency reported.
One passenger in the bay boat — Dennis Prince, 60, of Malvern, Ark. — was in intensive care at University Hospital with severe head trauma, the LDWF said today.
Corey Prince, 34, of Fayetteville, Ark., was treated for an elbow laceration, the agency reported.
Neither the operator of the crew boat — Belle Chasse’s Tyler Scott, — nor the one passenger — Lyrissa Demolle of Venice — were injured, according to the LDWF.
