Capt. Marty LaCoste of Absolute Fishing Charters reported that although he had to struggle with the wind all day yesterday, April 8, the fishing was good in Dularge. He added that he expects the wind to continue to be a problem for a few days, and that he is considering his options for fishing this weekend.

LaCoste said that the speckled trout fishing has been hit or miss.

“[It] has been a little slow,” he said, “but we’ve had some decent catches.”

LaCoste had good luck fishing with Matrix Shad’s Shrimp Creole.

“Use the [Matrix Shad] and Four Horsemen Tackle corks,” he said.  “We’ve had a lot of luck fishing under birds feeding on shrimp.”

The redfish have been active. Capt. Jack Payne of Sweetwater Marina in Delacroix said that he found a popping cork to be effective for them, but “if you can get live shrimp, that’s your best bet.”

For redfish, LaCoste had success fishing in shallow marsh areas with gold spoons and Matrix Shad’s Green Hornet tight-lined.
