Slidell man wasn’t wearing personal floatation device, LDWF says
The body of a 21-year-old Slidell man who fell overboard early this morning during a trip onto Lake Pontchartrain has been found, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said. Isiah M. Tate’s body was discovered just after 2 p.m. today (June 5), the LDWF said.
Tate apparently fell overboard in rough water near the Interstate 10 twin span, and the other three passengers on the 21-foot boat were unable to reach him before he disappeared.
The incident was reported at about 3:30 a.m., and the search was carried out by the LDWF, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard and Sea Tow.
Tate was not wearing a PFD when he went into the water, the LDWF said. His body has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
