Boater missing near Lake Pontchartrain’s Twin Spans

LDWF, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Coast Guard, Sea Tow search for missing man

A 21-year-old Slidell man fell overboard early this morning (June 5) near the Interstate 10 twin spans near the Northshore, and authorities were still searching for him as of 11 a.m., the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported. Isiah M. Tate apparently fell out of the 21-foot boat in which he and three others were riding, the LDWF said. Seas were rough when the incident occurred, the news release said.

The other passengers in the boat said they were able to locate Tate twice after he fell overboard, but that they were never able to reach him before he disappeared, the LDWF reported.

According to the passengers, Tate was not wearing a personal flotation device, the agency said.
