2015 spring inshore shrimp season to open May 18 at 6 a.m.

Maximum tow times for skimmer net fishermen are 55 minutes through Oct. 31, LDWF says

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission announced today the 2015 spring inshore shrimp season will open statewide on Monday, May 18 at 6 a.m.

Biologists project that a minimum of 50 percent of the inshore brown shrimp population will reach sizes of 100 count per pound or larger by that date, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

LDWF reminds fishermen that federal Turtle Excluder Device regulations require skimmer net fishermen to limit tow times to 55 minutes through Oct. 31, and 75 minutes from Nov. 1 through March 31.
