Jonesville man dies in Catahoula Parish boating accident

Boater ejected after vessel ran aground Wednesday afternoon on the Little River, LDWF says

A Jonesville man died Wednesday afternoon after a boating accident on the Little River in Catahoula Parish, according to a release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Howard R. Ivey, 56, died after his 16-foot boat ran aground on the northern bank of the Little River and he was ejected, the release states.

It appears Ivey had been traveling north on the Black River and then turned east into the Little River when he ran aground.

Ivey was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was turned over to the Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death, according to the release.
