Slow-motion captures power of strikes
There’s nothing like early-morning or late-afternoon blowups when a big bass smashes a topwater lure.
This summer, right at dark, I caught a 5-pounder while working the shoreline of a small pond with a topwater frog.
Since it was almost pitch dark, I’m convinced not being able to actually see the blowup allowed me to let her completely take the lure, instead of yanking it out of her mouth (which I probably would have done if I had seen the strike.)
