This time of year, most anglers think of topwater plugs as nothing more than extra weight in the tackle box. They’ll bring them on every trip, but wouldn’t even dream of tying one on until we get closer to the equinox than the solstice.
But actually, I’ve had some of my best topwater trips in December, January and February, the coldest months of the year. That trend continued this week when I took my good fishing buddy Chris Macaluso out looking for big trout.
We caught some of the biggest fish to be found in Louisiana these days, and every single one fell for a topwater bait. Check out the video for all the details!
