Most redfish are dumb brutes that just know the best way to regain their freedom is to charge forward like bulldozers in an effort to steal your rod or snap your line.
Then there are fish like the one I fought this week with Capt. Shane York.
Fishing in inches of water, I made a cast on this redfish, and then watched helplessly as it swam directly into York’s mud motors. It took us several minutes to untangle the fish, but once we finally did, we gave it a pat on its back and sent it on its way.
Well played, redfish. Well played.
