Jase LeBlanc and his dad Derek Leblanc with a catfish caught during nighttime noodling in Manchac, La. Jase said the best bait to use is fresh cut mullet he catches using a cast net. He recommends the leader on the noodle be around 4 feet in length to avoid snagging logs and trotlines. They said the best time to set noodles out is just after dark when the water is muddy with a good current after a hard rain. This has been proven to be the most successful time to run noodles no matter the time of the year.
