- On Oct. 19, the Best Trait, captained by Chris Mowad, fished the Blind Faith rig and landed a blue marlin that weighed 1,145.60 pounds.
- On Nov. 4, Michael Veuleman of Iowa, La., was hunting in Beauregard Parish when he harvested a big 9-point buck.
- Logan Leone of Stonewall shot this 15-point buck with a borrowed Weatherby .257 on Oct. 28 in DeSoto Parish.
- Daniel Colvin of Bernice shot an impressive 11-point buck with his 25.06 Remington in Union Parish on Oct. 30.
- Outdoorsmen and hunters took to social media expressing their displeasure with a Notice of Intent (NOI) for Louisiana’s first bear season in years passed by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission Nov. 2.
- Ricky French of Marthaville killed a big 10-point buck on a hunt the morning of Oct. 30 in Natchitoches Parish.

Hot Spots - December 2023
- Morgan City outdoorsman Bill McCarty knows you can catch some hefty redfish while fishing the lower Atchafalaya River near Morgan City.
- Large speckled trout can be found bank fishing the deep holes along Hwy. 1 between Leeville and Grand Isle during the wintertime.
- Even on colder days at Toledo Bend, take note that a 2- to 3-degree bump in the water temp can boost bass fishing success.
- Working the river between fronts and identifying the bait of choice will make a December day of fishing the Tchefuncte River more enjoyable.
Field Notes - December 2023
- When hunting public land, you are competing with many other hunters. Plan ahead, get into stealth mode and think outside of the box.
